Should I use paste or gel?
Texture and flavour are a matter of personal taste. In terms of effectiveness, it doesn't make a difference whether you prefer paste or gel what matters is that your brand has the Canadian Dental Association seal of recognition, which indicates that its claims to protect your teeth are reliable.

How do I pick one for sensitive teeth? There are two agents that help prevent tooth sensitivity: fluoride, which causes hardening of root surfaces, and potassium nitrate, which blocks nerve conduction to provide relief to sensitive spots along the gum line. Look for brands that contain these ingredients.

What kind of bristles should I use?

Soft or ultra-soft bristles are the best options for everybody. Hard or medium bristle brushes can damage tooth enamel and irritate your gums, and can eventually cause your gum line to recede.

Does brush size really matter?

Some people find smaller brushes easier to maneuver, while others are more comfortable with larger ones. Consult your hygienist to determine the brush that suits you best.

1. Use a soft toothbrush for thorough and gentle cleaning.

2. Hold your brush at a 45 degree angle. Begin by brushing the outside of the front teeth. Use gentle, half-tooth wide, back and forth strokes.

3.
Next, brush the outside back teeth, starting along the gumline.

4.
For the inside back teeth, use short, angled brush strokes.

5. For the inside front teeth, tilt the brush vertically, and use an up-and-down motion.

6. For the chewing surfaces, hold the brush flat, and use a gentle motion.
