Happy Anniversary Midtown!

Midtown Dental Centre celebrates 7 years of serving the GTA!

July 27th represents 7 years of creating great, healthy smiles! We'd like to thank all of our patients for their continued patronage.

Over these seven years we have grown in patients, staff and office size. While we've expanded, we've strived to maintain a friendly personable office attitude. As we continue to serve both local and foreign patients, we pledge to continue to treat our patients with care and to keep on top of the latest developments in dentistry.

As our 8th year starts, we are happy to introduce our new CAD/CAM technology that allows us to complete crowns and other porcelain work in ONE visit!

Our team hopes that you will continue to enjoy the comprehensive general dental care we provide. Please contact us with any questions, comments or to let us know what you'd like to see in future eNewsletter issues.

By the way, look out for our fantastic 7th Anniversary special coming in September.

Have a great summer!

The Midtown Dental Team

Is There Silver in Your Smile?

Remember years ago, when you'd visit your dentist and find out that you had a cavity even though you couldn't see it. You would schedule an appointment to have it filled and return in a week or so.

On your return visit the doctor would fill your tooth and prevent the future problems that could arise from a growing cavity. Upon looking in a mirror however you'd noticed that there was an awful looking silver filling. You almost wished it was still the cavity that you couldn't see.

These metallic filling were standard practice until not so long ago. While these fillings were often unattractive to begin with, over time, the material which makes up the filling corrodes and leaks blackening the silver, and many times the tooth. If you're embarrassed by old fillings and tired of hiding your smile, talk to us about Composite fillings.

For The Team!
Mouthguards are flexible dental appliances, usually made of plastic materials, which are worn by athletes to protect teeth from possible damage.

Mouthguards prevent major injuries such as concussions, jaw fractures, neck injuries, and more by preventing the lower jaw from impacting into the upper jaw. Mouthguards also help to avoid bruising and laceration of the lips and cheeks.

Whenever there is the possibility of contact - either with other competitors or any immovable objects - the wearing of mouthguards is highly recommended.

Many schools and sports leagues require the wearing of mouthguards during both practice and actual competition. Even if this is not mandatory, mouthguards should be worn during active involvement in sports.

Parents in particular should ensure that children, who may not be aware of or fully understand the potential dangers, protect themselves through the use of mouthguards.
If your child (or equally important you) are involved in a sporting league over the summer or starting in the fall, speak to us. We can create a custom mouthgaurd to ensure that their smile doesn't have to take one for the team, even if they decide to!
