The summer simply flew by and believe it or not September is done!

That means back to school, home from vacation and time to catch up on the things we let slide all summer. We know how busy life gets! If you forgot to schedule your dental cleaning here is your reminder.

We've made it easy for you to request an appointment from the computer you’re sitting at right now by simply clicking here.

Even with Fall on its way, there is still time to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. You already know that being active throughout the year is integral to your health, but remember that the sun's rays offer benefits effecting your mood and allowing your body to create Vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption needed for strong bones and teeth.

Try to enjoy the sun for around 10 minutes daily. I suggest a walk around 3:30 today. By then the sun has past its peak and a walk will clear your head and help the rest of the day fly by. You can tell them your doctor told you to do it!

Remember, if you are going to spend a prolonged time in the sun, wear plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water.

Until next time Smile with Confidence,

The Team at Maple Family Dentistry

Recent studies show considerable links between heart disease and oral health.

In particular, gum disease and tooth loss may be good predictors of future heart disease.
The theory is that mouth bacteria - which cause gum disease - enter the bloodstream through the inflamed gum tissues, and eventually end up in the same plaque associated with heart disease.

The best remedy?

  • Proper oral hygiene (brush twice daily, floss daily)
  • No smoking
  • Weight control
  • Balanced diet
Although we don't often think that poor oral health may lead to such dire consequences, the recent research makes a convincing link. Take heed, practice good oral hygiene, start at an early age, and encourage others to do the same!

How would you rate your smile?
Is it a perfect TEN!
A seven, or perhaps even lower?
Does your smile make you look younger, sexier, and smarter?

IT CAN.

When you look at pictures do you ever wish your teeth were straighter, whiter or more 'aligned'?
Cosmetic dentistry allows dentists to perform porcelain veneer 'smile makeovers' which can address all of these issues. We are delighted to be able to offer this revolutionary technique to our patients.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are custom, porcelain facings that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth to cover any imperfections and fix your smile. The veneers are very thin, only about 1 mm thick. That same thickness is "smoothed" off the natural tooth surface so when the veneer is bonded to the tooth, the tooth feels and looks the same thickness as before. Uneven, discoloured, or even damaged teeth can be restored or repaired using this procedure.

A question I am frequently asked is; do I accept new patients?

OF COURSE I DO!

I consider it the highest form of compliment when my patients refer their friends and family. My practice is built on word of mouth, and I appreciate every referral I am presented with.

"There's no question that I have the best patients on the entire planet."
