September is here!

The cooler weather is upon us and with it brings fall leaves, apple picking and a chance to appreciate the amazing scenery that fall in Ontario has to offer. September also means new beginnings; perhaps a new school, new job or the starting season of a new or existing sports team.

If you or your child play sports you may want to make sure that you have a properly fitted sports guard to protect your teeth.
In this issue we have included some information that you may find helpful.

Congratulations to Lillian's daughter Lesley on her recent marriage to Rob. They were married on August 9th 2007. We wish them both the very best and hope to add some photo's in next month's issue.

We value your comments and suggestions, Let us know what you think in this months' survey and we will enter your name in this month's draw.

Lastly, for everyone celebrating High Holidays we wish you a very happy & healthy new year.

Mouthguards are flexible dental appliances, usually made of plastic materials, which are worn by athletes to protect teeth from possible damage.

Mouthguards prevent major injuries including concussions, jaw fractures, neck injuries, etc. by protecting the lower jaw from impacting into the upper jaw. Mouthguards also prevent bruising and laceration of the lips and cheeks.

Whenever there is a possibility of contact - either with other competitors or any immovable objects - the wearing of mouthguards is highly recommended.

Many schools and sports leagues now require the wearing of mouthguards during both practice and actual competition. Even if this is not mandatory, mouthguards should be worn during active involvement in sports. Parents in particular should ensure that children, who may not be aware of or fully understand the potential dangers, protect themselves through the use of mouthguard.

While there are many options when considering a sportsguard, a properly fitted one is ideal. If you are currently using a sportsguard and not sure if it is offering you the best protection bring it in on your next visit!

Do the gaps between your teeth make you self-conscious when you smile?
Do you think you’re too old for braces?
Are repeat visits to our offices unlikely to fit your schedule?

You can often eliminate embarrassing spaces without the intrusive nature of braces or other costly, time consuming procedures. Of the several procedural options available to you, one that you may fit your budget, time constraints and needs is called bonding.

Bonding has become a very common procedure and can usually be completed in one, short, comfortable visit.

Bonding is a composite resin placed on your teeth. Composites are the materials used for restoring decayed teeth, making cosmetic improvements and even changing the colour and shape of teeth. Bonding can be used to lighten any stains you may have, close up minor gaps and correct awkward looking crooked teeth.
