January simply flew by and February is now at the door. We hope that you had a relaxing break over the holidays and are back into the swing of things. 2008 is still young and is already shaping up to be a great year at High Park Dental Care.

January 20-26, 2008 was National Non-Smoking Week. Many smokers repeatedly try to quit, yet learn that quitting often takes more than simply setting a date. If you are ready to quit a tobacco habit, we would be please to discuss options that can increase your chance of success.

Did the new year bring changes to your dental insurance? Many insurance plans are based on the calendar year and with the new year may have come changes to your coverage. Please remember to let us know if there have been any changes to your plan before your next visit.

Start the year off right! This is a great time to come in for a cleaning and to complete any services that may have been started last year.

Our office is now accepting new patients! If you know of someone who would benefit from our dental services, please let us know. Your confidence and referrals are greatly appreciated!

More bad news for smokers! Tobacco use slows your body's ability to fight bacteria and heal itself.

Those of you that chew tobacco have an even greater risk of serious gum disease and tooth wear from the constant rubbing of tobacco against your teeth.

Come on people...bad breath should have been a good enough reason to

quit, why wait for something more serious to happen?

If you are ready to break a tobacco addiction, speak to us. We can offer you advice and discuss option that will increase your chance of success.

So you were in a hurry.
You picked up your mouthwash and had a quick rinse before you left the house.
That's as good as brushing...right? WRONG!

Mouthwashes are effective at masking bad breath and as effective as rinsing with water with regards to removing surface particles.

Don't get me wrong, I like to rinse with my favourite minty wash before I head out for the day, but it is no substitute for brushing and flossing.

In fact, a mouthwash is most effective right after a good brush and floss as it rinses away anything that was loosened and kills bacteria that still remain behind.
